Falmouth Graduate Wins Gorsedh Kernow Award
Maddie McColin, recent Falmouth University Textile Design Graduate has been awarded the Glenda Hartland Award for Design by Gorsedh Kernow during this year’s Gorsedh celebrations in Launceston
Maddie was awarded the medal for her second year work inspired by the Archive of Cornish Playwright Nick Darke, held at the library on the Penryn Campus. She created a fortune teller style game with a series of textile boxes that sought to recreate the excitement of the experience of encountering Nick’s archive for the first time. Her carefully crafted pieces were inspired by the archivally sound packaging materials used to preserve Nick’s work and included intricate reproductions of Nick’s handwriting.
Maddie’s works is currently on display in the Library at the Penryn Campus
