The Library welcomes external borrowers and can provide access to a range of materials and special collections for private study and research. Access to resources can be as reference only or as a registered borrower.

Members of the public can use the collection for reference purposes or as a fully registered member of the service. To apply for membership, please send a letter outlining your area of research and research requirements along with the completed registration form to Doreen Pinfold, Head of Library & Information Services.
Membership is an initial registration fee of £25 plus £25 annual fee. Fees can be paid online
Falmouth University Alumni pay a one off subscription of £35 to gain access to the libraries. Please register with Alumni Relations,
University of Exeter Alumni pay a one off subscription of £35 to gain access to the libraries as part of their University of Exeter Alumni membership.
University of Exeter and Falmouth University PGR Alumni are offered free access as part of their Alumni membership, please ask for details.
Falmouth University is a member of the http://www.sconul.ac.uk/sconul-access. All undergraduates are welcome to use our facilities as reference users. Band A, B, and C members may apply for borrowing rights (please note, access is only granted to printed material and does not apply to electronic sources or the audiovisual collections). Applications to visit the Library should be made online via the Sconul Access website. Please contact us or visit our website prior to your visit to confirm opening times. You should be ready to present your student ID card from your home institution together with your approval email (the second email you will have received) in response to your online application.
Local companies may gain access to our collections through corporate membership. This allows for a company to register and then individuals from within the company can also register. To apply for membership, please send a letter outlining your area of research and research requirements along with the completed registration form to the Head of Library & Information Services.
We work with Cornish schools, FE and HE colleges as well as with the University of Exeter's Truro campus to provide reference access to our collections. A referral for access should be made by the institutional Librarian. Study groups are also welcome, by prior arrangement, and should be accmpanied by the Librarian or Tutor.
This is part of the Cornish Schools Agreement, CUC partnership and Inspire partnership.
The Collection is held across two campuses, at Penryn and Woodlane, and includes books, journals and special collections and archives. As a member of the library service you have access to both campuses.

Borrow 4 book loans at any one time.
Access the Library catalogue gives a full list of titles available, and where they are held.
Use photocopiers available within each library. Copy cards can be loaded with money at autoloader machines. Cards are available from library staff.
Borrow items from other libraries as part of the interlibrary loan scheme. Full British Library costs will be charged.
Gain access to the Archives and Special Collections.
Make use of the Walk-in Users access scheme to use electronic resources in line resource licensing.
Initial access to the libraries should be made by appointment. this helps us to ensure that there will be someone available to talk you through the registration process, and show you the collections.
