The Library will send automated notices to you to alert you to:

  • a loan that is about to go overdue and needs to be renewed or returned. These are known as courtesy notices.
  • a loan has gone overdue and must now be returned or renewed 
  • a hold that you placed has become available for loan, and is ready for collection from the library counter.
  • an item that you have on loan has been recalled, and is now due on a different date. (Fines will occur on overdue recalled items)


Please note these are courtesy notices. It remains your responsibility to check your emails/texts, and keep your library account up to date


How can you receive notices?

By email

Notices are usually sent to your institutional email address. You must check this address - and ensure that you manage the number of emails in your email box. If the email box becomes full, you will not receive the notices.


You should now automatically receive the following notices by SMS:

  • courtesy notices
  • final overdue notices
  • hold available notices
  • recall notices

Messages will be sent to your mobile number at 8am and 4pm each day, in addition to your email box. 

Should you prefer not to make use of the SMS service, please ask at the library help desk, or email the library with your name, patron barcode number and mobile number
