Volunteer Opportunities

We offer a wide range of Volunteer opportunities - from one-off placements to help you gain work experience in the Sector, to regular commitments of as many or as few hours as suit you.  Tasks can include basic cataloguing, repackaging and research projects.  Volunteers work hands-on with our hugely varied collections, and get involved across all aspects of our work.

You may have skills or knowledge that you would like to share - for example knowing the history of one of our Collections such as Camborne School of Mines or Kneehigh Theatre, or an awareness of photographic processes that would help us with our work on the Ian Stern Photographic Archive. Alternatively, you may have no prior knowledge at all - no experience is necessary! All we ask of our Volunteers is that they are enthusiastic, as we can provide full training.

To mark Volunteers Week, in June each year we hold a 'Thank You' event to celebrate the work of our amazing team of Volunteers, as well providing an opportunity for our volunteers to hear about latest developments within both Archives & Special Collections and the wider Library. We also like to invite a guest speaker - previous events have seen colleagues join us from National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, along with an interactive Cornish lesson, and of course plenty of tea and cake!
