Visitors and Alumni
Please note: due to limited space in the libraries during social distancing, we are currently only open for existing members to collect loans. These must be reserved in advance through Library Search. We are not able to accept any group visits. We are registering new alumni members only. Apologies for the inconvenience. We will review this position in December 2020 and look forward to welcoming back visitors when it is safe to do so.

Members of the public
Members of the public can use the collection for reference purposes or as a fully registered member of the service. To apply for membership, please send a letter outlining your area of research and research requirements along with the completed registration form to the Library Admin team.
Our library search will require a login to request items, which we will provide along with your card.

Membership is an initial registration fee of £50 then a £25 annual renewal. Fees can be paid online.
- SCONUL access is currently suspensed due to Covid -
Falmouth University is a member of the SCONUL Access scheme. All undergraduates are welcome to use our facilities as reference users. Band A, B and C members may apply for borrowing rights (please note, access is only granted to printed material and does not apply to electronic resources or the audiovisual collection). Applications to visit the Library should be made online via the Sconul Access website. Please contact us or visit our website prior to your visit to confirm opening times. You should be ready to present your student ID card from your home institution together with the 'approval email' you should have received in response to your online application.
Local companies may gain access to our collections through corporate membership. This allows for a company to register and then individuals from within the company can also register. To apply for membership, please send a letter outlining your area of research and research requirements along with the completed registration form to the Library Admin team.
Local schools and colleges
We work with Cornish schools, FE and HE colleges as well as with the University of Exeter's Truro campus to provide reference access to our collections. A referral for access should be made by the institutional Librarian. Study groups are also welcome, by prior arrangement, and should be accompanied by the Librarian or Tutor.

What can you access?
The Collection is held across two campuses, at Penryn and Falmouth, and includes books, journals and special collections and archives. As a member of the library service you have access to both campuses.

All registered users can
Borrow 10 book or CD loans at any one time.
Access the Library Search gives a full list of titles available, and where they are held.
Use photocopiers available within each library. Copy cards can be loaded with money at autoloader machines. Cards are available from library staff.
Gain access to the Archives and Special Collections.
Make use of the Walk-in Users access scheme to use electronic resources in line resource licensing.
How you can gain access
Initial access to the libraries should be made by appointment. this helps us to ensure that there will be someone available to talk you through the registration process, and show you the collections.
