Items from the personal library of Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst, founders of the Dartington Trust.
The Elmhirst Special Collection is on loan from the Dartington Trust. The Collection comprises over 1300 items from the personal library of Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst. The Elmhirsts bought the Dartington Estate in 1925 and set about transforming the 14th century site, setting up farming and forestry projects alongside innovative and experimental educational and arts projects.
The Collection reflects the diverse and eclectic interests of the couple, with titles encompassing a wide range of subjects including poetry, anthropology, farming, educational theory, architecture and the Arts.
As such this collection has a wide appeal for many of the subjects taught at both Falmouth University and University of Exeter's Penryn Campus.
This Special Collection is available by appointment. Items are listed, and fully searchable, on the Library catalogue.
